About Me 

I come from a long line of amazing Italian bakers; my great-grandmother, grandma and mom...and it almost ended with me.

 

My mom is a natural baker and cook, and we always had cookies and desserts in our freezer, especially during the holidays. In our house, it wasn’t the holidays unless the freezer had more cookies in it than food.

 

I, however, had more interest in eating than cooking or baking. My idea of “cooking” was smashing up Goldfish with a meat pounder, adding white sugar and serving it in a bowl like dry cereal. And my mom always ate my weird (hopefully good?) creations.

 

I was a late culinary bloomer.

 

It wasn’t until my boyfriend, Jake (now my husband), and I moved into our first apartment that I was brave enough to tackle my kitchen fears.

 

Flipping through a cookbook my mom gave me, I saw a pound cake recipe which didn’t look too intimidating for a first bake. I waited until I was alone to make the cake so I could trash it in secret, if necessary. But...the pound cake was good! From then on, I was hooked on baking.

 

Besides blogging and baking, I’m also a wife and professional writer.

 

Jake and I met in 2006 and were married in 2015. We were high school friends and college sweethearts. He’s my main taste-tester, and has talked me down after an unsuccessful bake more times than I’d like to admit. He also sparked my interest in fitness when we started exercising together. We currently reside in beautiful Southern Oregon, but my heart is always in rural New York, where I was born. I’m an east coast Italian, through and through!

 

When I’m not blogging, baking or at the gym, I love to read, spend time with my husband, and watch HGTV, Food Network or Gilmore Girls.
